💙 Parent Voices: Early Intervention Made All the Difference

Ashley still remembers the conversation that changed everything.

Her son Jaxson wasn't meeting developmental milestones, but after hearing different explanations from doctors, she believed she already had the answers. Then her sister-in-law, Jessica Irish, pulled her aside and gently said something that was difficult to hear:

"We need to get him tested."

At the time, Ashley admits she was upset. Looking back today, she says that one conversation changed the course of Jaxson's life.

Because of Jessica's encouragement, Jaxson received an autism diagnosis early and was able to begin early intervention—something Ashley says made all the difference.

Like so many parents, Ashley found that receiving a diagnosis didn't come with a roadmap. She had questions, uncertainty, and a desire to do everything she could for her son. Jessica became more than a therapist—she became a trusted guide, helping Ashley understand autism, pointing her toward reliable resources, celebrating every milestone, and supporting their family through every challenge.

That impact reached beyond Jaxson.

Ashley says Jessica's passion inspired her daughter Shelby to become a BCBA. Today, Shelby works at Creating Brighter Futures, where she comes home every day excited to share stories about the children, families, and coworkers she serves. Ashley says the staff genuinely loves every child they work with, celebrates every success, and understands that behavior is communication—a philosophy she believes makes Creating Brighter Futures truly special.

Jessica's support has continued far beyond therapy. As Ashley began serving on the Special Education Advisory Committee for Saline Schools, Jessica remained a trusted resource, always willing to offer guidance to help other families navigate their own journeys.

When Ashley watched Jessica create a video explaining ABA therapy for parents, she wasn't surprised.

"It's completely on brand for who she is and how she runs her center."

Today, Ashley recommends Creating Brighter Futures whenever another family asks where to turn.

She knows firsthand the passion this team has for helping children become exactly who they are—not a problem to be fixed, but individuals with their own strengths, personalities, and unlimited potential.
