Project FOCCUS3 @ MSU
Project FOCCUS3 stands for Facilitators Of Compassion and Cultural humility in Underrepresented Students in School Psychology and Special Education
Project FOCCUS3 is a program that provides funding for 18 selected graduate students that help prepare future school counselors, psychologists and behavior analysts by supplying funding for tuition coverage, conference attendance, and an annual materials stipend. The MA in Applied Behavior Analysis and the EDS in School Psychology are hybrid programs that fosters part-time positions in schools while earning the necessary credits for the programs.
Project FOCCUS3 seeks to increase the number of historically underrepresented EdS and ABA professionals who support students with high-intensity needs in Michigan schools. In short, the project aims to: 1) increase the placement of highly qualified school psychologist and behavior analysts from historically underrepresented groups in schools to provide evidence-based services to students in K-4th grades with high needs; 2) improve scholars’ knowledge and practitioner skills with a specialized focus on culturally competent practice and compassionate care; and 3) train learners on practices within the framework of Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
